Diet update

Well most of you know I have been on a low carb diet for some time now. Although I did really well, it is not meant to be a long term diet. So, since I have plateaued, I am switching to a low fat diet---lots of fresh fruit, veggies, chicken, whole wheat pasta and bread, skim milk, cereals, etc. I am hoping this will be something I can stick with long term. I am also back at the "Y". For my birthday, Courtney bought me my own boxing bag, gloves, and heart monitor. I am going back to kickboxing this week. Maybe by the end of summer I can drop another 20 lbs.

My surprise

Meredith made it safely in from Texas. We had a great, although short, visit. My one surprise turned into 3 more. Caleb, one of our students from Pampa came in; Courtney's grandma from Healdton came in; and our friends David and Laura and their children came in. It was a great weekend.

He's home...

Justin arrived safely back in Arapaho this evening. We just got home from seeing him. Brittni is VERY happy he is back.

Brittni with Mom and Dad, notice the tears? Ari had a video made for Brittni. It showed them from really small to now. She had written a poem at the end telling her how much she loved her and would miss her. I have great kids. I cried ALOT!

The Last Day of Public School

For Brittni, anyway. It is hard to believe that my first child is graduating from high school tomorrow. I know I will cry, but I am so proud of her accomplishments. We are also having a special guest in our home this weekend. She knows who she is, but know one but Ari and Courtney know she is coming. They have been helping me the keep the secret from Brittni and the boys. I can't wait for her to get here.....

I will try to post some pics from the weekend. We will have one special one, a picture of Hunter graduating from Kindergarten with a picture of Brittni graduating from High School.

Brittni's scholarships and awards

Today was the WHS Awards Assembly. This is the first, and except for the years our children are graduating, our last. It was 2+ hours long......

Brittni was awarded several things.

1. Distinguished Scholar, Certificate and Medal to wear at graduation
2. Cross Country Scholarship
3. General Thomas P. Stafford Scholarship
4. SWOSU Distinguished Freshman Scholarship
5. 2nd Place, SWOSU SWIM, General Science
6. Oklahoma Honor Society

It was fun watching all of her friends receive awards. It is starting to hit home that she is graduating. We are headed to Arapaho tonight for Justin's graduation. He is in a class of 17. I am betting his graduation won't be as long as ours next week.

Brittni is.....

The May Student of the Month for the Weatherford Rotary Club. She was excited to get the letter. We enjoyed lunch with the Rotarians on Wednesday. They introduced her, gave her $25 in chamber bucks, a certificate and a gift. She also gets to join them for a free lunch every Wednesday in May. We are so proud.

My birthday

Monday was my 39th birthday! It bothered me. Why, I don't know. It's just another day, really. The more I thought about it, the less it bothered me.

I went about my normal routine, even going to the Y for kickboxing. We took the kids to eat, just like every other Monday. My friends, college students and most of my family called to wish me a happy day. One even reminded me that being 39 was better than being pregnant and another better than being 39 AND pregnant.

I did treat myself to a facial and some new make-up.

I am 39! Whoo hoo. My kids are healthy, Courtney's health is stable, I am healthy, we have jobs, a roof over our heads, food to eat, cars to drive, clothes to wear, pets to play with, friends to chat with, hobbies to enjoy, etc. Some of our friends don't. So, it is time to just go on and that is what I am gonna do. Being 39 isn't going to bother me anymore.

We have too much living to do. This is an exciting month in our family. My baby is turing 18 and graduating from high school. Ari will be getting her license soon, Connor is leaving one school and moving to another and Hunter is reading.

So my challenge to you--live, enjoy and celebrate each day!
