We need your prayers. Both Court's dad and mine are having some health issues. I joked with our pastor yesterday that I am too young to be worrying about my parents and my kids at the same time, but unfortunately that is not the case.
My dad was back in OKC yesterday for a PET scan, CAT scan and blood work for his cancer. We will have the results Monday.
Courtney's dad is having some serious issues with his blood pressure and sleep apnea. My girls are there now helping him out. Last night when we called to check on him, his girlfriend said just having the girls there relaxed him and helped his blood pressure come down. Sometimes a little distraction is good for him. Courtney, the girls, his girlfriend and Courtney's brother Brandon are taking him to the doctor today at 1:30. We all think there is a mix up with the medication, but we will know more later.
Thanks for taking the time to check in on us. And thanks for the prayers. Cindi

Yesterday I........
Went furniture shopping. The last time I did that, Courtney carried Brittni in her baby carrier. She is 18 in 2 months! We are soooo excited. We got a couch, a loveseat and a lazy boy recliner. The couch and the loveseat have two recliners each and are sage green. The lazy boy is.....can anyone guess what the lazy boy will look like? It's a surprise, but no one should be surprised with what it is. We can barely wait for them to deliver it to us on Friday. The lazy boy we are picking up tomorrow, so we can pick out curtains, and a new throw rug to match. I will post pics when I get the living room set up. I am hoping to have a garage sale on Friday and Saturday to get rid of all the extra stuff.
We are on spring break this week, so I should be able to clean out closets, bedrooms, cabinets and drawers. I would love to have a sale big enough to pay for one of the pieces!
Everything else is relatively quiet here. Our church is doing an "extreme home makeover--Weatherford style" all week and we are hoping to work some on it tomorrow. Brittni has worked on it since Friday. The girls are going to their grandpas for two days this week and the boys and I are hoping for some playdates at the park.
Easter is this weekend and we are having my family, Court's family and some of our college students over for lunch. I will make a ham, potato salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, hot rolls and dessert. Sounds good! I am going to go off my diet for Sunday and eat what I want. I think I can do that and still be okay.
Have a great week, I am off to kickbox in the backyard. Cindi

Pray for Ashley
Ashley is having a tough couple of days. She has developed a blood clot which has caused her to have some swelling. All this during the time they were hoping to transfer her closer to home. Keep praying for her, her family and the medical team.

I love you my special friends..
If you live in Oklahoma, you know about the tragic plane crash on Tuesday. On that plane was a man from Weatherford. While I knew, Rick, I knew his wife, daughter and sister better. He was an amazing man with an amazing relationship with our God. He was a former missionary to the country of Brazil. His family is just down right God fearing and God loving. All of them! Today was his funeral. I sat there thinking alot about what I would do if I was in his wife's shoes. Courtney travels a lot. We have a rule at our house about never leaving without saying goodbye, and I love you. But, what if.....
The man who preached the funeral told a lot about Rick. I was glad. He didn't spend much time on the sad, but mostly on the happy. The funny jokes he told, the cherished memories his wife and children had of him teasing them when the did something silly, and the life lessons about fairness. A friend of mine sent this to me. I thought it was appropriate for everyone. Its not just about staying young, its about staying happy. You just never know when your time here is gone...
I love you all,
HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Try everything twice.
On Madam's (of Whelan's and Madam) tombstone she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice...loved it both times!
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down (keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches).
3. Keep learning:
Learn more about computers, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!
4. Enjoy the simple things.
(Ice cream, good movies, chocolate, more ice cream, more chocolate)
5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with that person.
6. The tears happen.
Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with you your entire life is you. Lost time can never be found. LIVE while you are alive. Do I hear a LOUD AMEN?
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health:
If it i s good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, or a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.
11. Forgive now those who made you cry.
You might not get a second time.
12. Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Cats, Part II
Talica and SnickersMy vet friend made a suggestion to me last night and I am going to take it. There is a group of people in the community who are trying to start an animal sanctuary. It will be like a no kill facility for strays. I believe there are places like that in the cities, and this will be similar, but on a smaller scale. She suggested I go to their meeting. I already have plans, but am going to take my info to the president of the group today and discuss with her what they group thinks. I am hopeful this will get me heard, without having to go to the mayor. We'll see how it goes.
The Band is headed to State

Yesterday the WHS Band played in the district contests. They scored straight 1's in their song and in sight reading. THEY ARE HEADED TO STATE!!!
My girls were so excited. They have worked so hard to come back from a truly bad experience 3 years ago with a band director. It was hard for the band to even stay in tact and now they are headed back to the state competition.
I am not sure when it is, but I know they will be traveling to OSU in Stillwater. Way to GO!!! WHS Band, the parents are proud of you!

What I think!
Ok, so you may not want to hear my rant so I am warning you now. Quit reading if you are not in the mood for griping.
Today we had to put two cats to sleep. One of these cats, Talica, has lived in front of my house for almost three years. The other is a newbie, Snickers. He showed up about 4 months ago. They both had feline leukemia. Now, as of today, we have put down 4 cats with that disease, Monty, Tallica, Socks and Snickers. Why? Because people keep dropping their unwanted animals off in our neighborhood and we can't stand to watch them suffer so we take care of them. I might add that we did have them spayed, neutered and vaccinated. AT OUR OWN EXPENSE! Luckily we have a vet for a friend and she discounts our bill some, but after today we have spent $599.90 in the past 2 1/2 years. She has discounted $311.00 off our bills. Without her kindness, we would have spent over $900.00!
My kids are devastated and I am angry. When they first showed up, we called the pound to come and get them because we knew they originally dropped two of them off to the neighbor across the street for mousing. I was told that they would not pick them up and if I didn't want them in my neighborhood I needed to put them in my car and drive them to another neighborhood and drop them off. I was told they control the rodent population and that is why they don't pick them up. Can you believe that?
The vet thinks I should call the mayor or the city council, but I don't want my name in the paper. I don't know what to do by gripe here! I am tired of spending my money and watching my kids cry about losing a pet. Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for letting me vent. Cindi
